![]() Not a single instance of m3u usage, or even pbp usage I've come across automatically launches the required disc once a change disc screen is met. But telling them the speed button combos, disc swapping, game resetting, and exiting, on top of the regular controls? We're getting into nuisance territory when a simple button press to bring up a menu to access all of that like you would natively in any modern game is simpler on the person setting it up and the people playing.Īnd m3u's aren't actually queuing anything up that's more for launchers to reduce the amount of entries for games and for emulators to recognize that they're supposed to use the same file for save states and memory cards if you're set up to use a card per game. True, never as good as a real controller - but even with a USB-C controller I still feel EPSXe has the better controls. I found DuckStation much easier to make pretty graphics but EPSXe better for (analog) gameplay. ![]() I can quickly explain to someone to hold select and press R1 to toggle fast forward on and off. EPSXe is a much better and smoother experience. Or worse yet, if you have a central setup geared for people to hop on on a whim like a console - which is what I'm doing - having everything simple for them is what matters. You play a bunch of games and then go back to an RPG, you might forget how to swap with the key inputs. You don't have to be playing Myst or Legend Of Dragoon for it to be an issue. FPSe isnt free however, though the NG (64-bit) version is currently on sale for 99p, and if you thought Retroarchs menus were unintuitive then wait to you experience the ones in this emulator. FPSe also has a fast forward option and doesnt have the stuttering present in Duckstation. For someone less inclined, it's much easier to go into Retroarch, set up a hot key and then map your fast forward button.Īnd it's not just a matter of disc swapping a lot, it's disc swapping in general. Duckstation isnt the only PS1 emulator with that feature. I don't know how many times I've tried since moving over to Duckstation to map fast forward to a button combo and it just not working, and this is me following a guide. I'm the type of person who's making scripts into exe's for each individual game just so I know any Steam Input changes I make will persist because it's tied to a single file rather than some easily screwed up command line stuff/launch shortcut stuff.Īnd even then, just tying things to Steam input isn't that easy. ![]() My arguments aren't for me, they're for other people. And I'm already in the process of doing this with Steam. Click to shrink.I'm already doing this with Launchbox. ![]()
